As of April 18, 2025, the application period for Middlefield Junction has officially closed. We would like to sincerely thank all applicants for their interest. All submitted applications are currently being reviewed, and the housing lottery is scheduled for May 2025. Applicants will receive an automatic email from Doorway with their lottery rank number. Middlefield Junction, a 100% affordable housing development, consists of two buildings, providing a total of 179 units in one-, two-, and three-bedroom layouts. We are excited to announce that our Building A is now accepting application! This five-story, wood-frame structure will include 75 units, as well as offices, community space, and a soon to come childcare center. Middlefield Junction, a 100% affordable housing development, consists of two buildings, providing a total of 179 units in one-, two-, and three-bedroom layouts. On June 3, 2024, one of the buildings was severely impacted by a fire. We are relieved to report that there were no injuries, and we are deeply grateful to the firefighters and first responders who acted swiftly to ensure the safety of the community.

Building A Update:
Fortunately, Building A remained unaffected by the fire and was able to continue construction after thorough inspections and testing. This five-story, wood-frame structure will include 75 units, as well as offices, community space, and a childcare center. We anticipate construction to be completed later this year, and the leasing process for Building A is set to begin in Spring 2025. The next community meeting will be held March 26, 2025, at 6:00 PM at the North Fair Oaks Community Room.

Building B Update:
Building B, a six-story wood-frame structure over a concrete podium, unfortunately lost all the wood components in the fire. However, the remaining concrete podium has been thoroughly inspected, with tests carried out by structural engineers and specialists. Based on these tests, it has been determined that the podium was minimally impacted. We estimate that construction on Building B will be completed in early 2026, with the leasing process to follow shortly after. Additional details about the leasing process for Building B will be provided closer to its completion.

As you may know, one building at Mercy Housing’s Middlefield Junction construction site was badly impacted by a fire on June 3rd, 2024. We are relieved to share that there were no injuries, and we are so grateful to the firefighters and first responders who acted quickly to keep the community safe.

​

We are all devastated by this setback in our plan to bring high-quality affordable housing and childcare services to North Fair Oaks. We have appreciated the outpouring of support and remain fully committed to completing Middlefield Junction after we assess the damage and make a plan to proceed with construction.
